Michelle Hammons,M.Ed., will discuss :What makes the “Essential Elements of Successful Montessori Schools” – ESSENTIAL? How do the pieces of the Jenga puzzle that is a Montessori school fit together to construct a solid structure? What happens when a piece is pulled out, and which pieces, if lost, can tumble the entire organization?

Whether you are in a public magnet environment or a charter school environment, Ms. Hammons has been where you are at one point or another. Bringing her experiences to bear as both a teacher and administrator in public Montessori programs, she will discuss her observations on this carefully crafted environment we each seek to create, and address how the Essential Elements are a crucial part of the success of those environments. She will discuss how to work with your administrators to advocate for what you need. For administrators, she will discuss how we hold true to what we know our staff needs in order to create successful Montessori environments, in other words-how we prepare the environment for staff.

Ms. Hammons is in her 16th year as the principal for Eagle Peak Montessori Charter School in Walnut Creek, CA. Prior to California she was an administrator at a charter Montessori in Houston(2000-2003) as well as a teacher in the Waco Montessori magnet program(1993-99).
